Winter Wonderland Ornament

Why we love it: The sparkling snowy winter scene captured inside this clear ball ornament evokes lovely images of a white Christmas.

What you need: White fine glitter or sugar; small brush tree; clear ball ornament; and adhesive putty or white Plasticine

How to make it: Dip or brush glue onto tree and saturate with white glitter or sugar. Allow to dry completely. Remove hook from ornament and set aside. Trim wooden stand on tree so it’s small enough to fit inside the opening of the ornament. Apply putty or Plasticine to the bottom of the stand and gently insert tree through the opening of the ornament. Press firmly against the bottom of the ornament so putty adheres to it. Using a paper funnel, pour glitter or sugar through the opening of the bulb until desired height of snow is achieved. Place hook back onto ornament and admire your handiwork!

i know what you’re thinking… are these more fashion snaps from coachella? no indeed! these are high school fashions in 1969 photographed by arthur shatz for life magazine.

Still, nice sense of fashion i think :) with a little touch of hippie . I still can see teenagers wearing some of these outfits :)

ANONYMOUS CONFESSIONS

As they say, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas – but what if we could share with full discretion? Everyone of us has his own little secrets and ‘Confessions’, a public art project by american artist Candy Chang, invites people to anonymously share their confessions and see the confessions of people around them in the heart of the Las Vegas strip. Chang lived in Las Vegas for a month and turned her P3 Studio gallery into a contemplative place for people to share their confessions and being fascinated by the secrets others hide inside themselves. Inspired by Post Secret, Shinto shrine prayer walls, and Catholicism, people could write and submit their confessions on wooden plaques in the privacy of confession booths.
By the end of the exhibition, over 1500 confessions were displayed on the walls. It’s about sex, love, or fears of dying alone. By collecting the confessions of the hotel’s visitors, this project seeks to create a cathartic sanctuary for this temporary community and help us see we are not alone in our quirks, experiences, and struggles as we try to lead fulfilling lives.

Creative Chandeliers

Below are some non-traditional materials used in chandeliers:

Cups and Saucers

Tea cups and saucers in all sorts of sizes but all in shades of white are used in this creation of Rebecca Wilson that shows unmatched simplistic beauty in everyday objects. This delicate chandelier is made up of bone white china suspended by strands of fiber optic cables connected with a LED light source within a lightweight rosette fitting attached in the ceiling.

The Wire Chandelier

Inspired by beautiful chandeliers from famous brands such as Swarovski and McHale’s, this tough and trendy creation is fit to hold bulbs as well as tapered candles and would sit elegantly with posh homes, minimalist abodes and even bare shacks. However, with a commanding price of $2000, you might want to put it somewhere more appropriate than the last one.

The Tide Chandelier

No need to be confused, there’s nothing really special about the name of the chandelier other than the fact that this creation by London-based designer Stuart Haygath was made entirely from various materials allegedly washed over the shores of Kent. Another article claims that it is named so because of the shape of this massive lighting fixture that has a whopping diameter of no less than 5 feet.

The Antler Chandelier

These antler chandeliers can either be made from authentic antlers or a its ceramic reproduction. A piece like this can go both for traditional rustic or modern stylish looking homes and with a wide price range from a couple of hundreds to a thousand or more and with different designs to choose from, we’re pretty much sure anyone will find something to suit their preferences.

The Gummy Bear Chandelier

Take note, these gummy bear chandeliers are not edible so if you are tempted to grab one hanging from the ceiling, better drop the idea. These one-inch candy colored babies are actually made up of acrylic and the lighting fixtures are manufactured by a company called Jellio which offers off-the-wall design like Gummi Glasses and Rubik’s Cube tables.
